Last One!

My commentary towards Burley's Gov't Topics :

"I feel the same way as you. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. It's such a disappointment because we all know that Texas is ranked 2nd highest out of 50 states for overall birthrate and 50 out of 50 states for lowest of non-elderly women with insurance. The facts are so disturbing because our state has so many people. We need as much help as we can.

When I was younger I had insurance until my mother got laid off. I had to rely on medicaid. Everything they provided and assisted with was great. When I turned 18 years old, I could no longer be eligible. They only provide for 18 years and younger. I'm living with no insurance and I am diagnosed with hypothyroidism. One of the services that Planned Parenthood Clinics provides for, are thyroid screenings. If anything were to happen... I could depend on them to help me because there is nothing else.

My point is, there's A LOT of people out there that needs all the things that Planned Parenthood Clinics provides. How can something that was put there to help many people be taken away? It's mind boggling to me, it really is."

Really?

I came across this commentary written by Eva Guzman.  "Help Foster care kids stay in school, achieve more."  It's an inspiring and motivating piece.  It tells us about the importance of  care and education for the foster kids of Texas.  Texas is the parent to about 30,000 kids.  These kids are in foster care because they were either neglected or abused.  In my eyes, it seems as if these children were given a second chance at a successful life.  They have the ability to start off with a clean slate  after leaving their old cruddy life behind.  These kids are fragile, they have no sense of belonging because they're always on the move.  They don't know what or where home is which leaves their confidence at a low level.

"The committee's solutions are designed to help these kids be ready to learn once they enter school and to better support them while they are there."

How can one reach success when one's confidence is nonexistence?  They can't.   That's why we have the education committees and social workers to help them.  Not only them but average ordinary people can get involved to.  Lending a hand could change so much for these children.  When emotion stability comes in, someone has to be there for them because they've been growing up not having anyone to depend on.  If paths are laid out for them, they can walk gradually towards their goal.  Several of them will finish high school instead of dropping out.  Many will go to college and eventually get a degree.  Success would only be a grasp away, really.

Drying For Freedom

This is my response towards James' post.

Hi James,

I couldn't have said it better. You've made your point clear and on the dot.

It's preposterous that there's even such a thing: not being allowed to dry your clothes outside. We the people and the government always talk about saving money at every point necessary. How can one come up with such a thing?

"Prohibiting line drying is a really bad thing, especially as estimates indicate that tumble dryers consume 6 percent of an average home's electricity—about the same as a refrigerator. In contrast, lighting uses around 8 percent of the average home's energy."

The little money we'd saving would eventually sum up to a big amount. Surely, many people would be surprised. It makes no complete sense. In my eyes, I see that this enforcement is way out of hand. Drying clothes outside does no harm whatsoever and it has its beneficial points.

Back then, things were different. There was a need for new technology. Things were less expensive than they are today. Just like the every day things we run into like gas and food. These things grew in price rigorously, especially gas. (I'm sure everyone has noticed.) However, though we do have the money to have a dryer, there is no NEED to use a dryer when we have our lovely mother-nature to do the job for us.

I'm sure many people like myself would love to hang their clothes outside... We just happen to be too lazy to do so, right? :)

Controversy in $

"Texans in Congress say they’ll keep backing fighter project despite massive cost overruns"

This article caught my eyes whilst browsing on the Dallas News website.  It's about members of Congress continuing to spend money on their air crafts. Some people like myself might call it wasting instead of spending.  The republicans like to yap around about the federal government throwing money around but look at them.  When it comes to spending in their hands, they're actually the ones wasting money.  Much like hypocrites most people would say.  They talk about the government is spending too much money on its employees, so they downsize it.  They bring up about the government being poor.  Then... what do they do?  They just go on right ahead and continue to waste money, government money.  They allow themselves to talk about others wasting money like the democrats for too much of debt but do they see what they're doing?  A lot of people might have different perspectives but for me, it's clear that the word "hypocrisy" arises.

"The Pentagon conceived the F-35 as a cost-effective way to move military aircraft into the 21st century, but the F-35 Lighting II has been plagued with delays and cost overruns since its launch in 2002."

So even though things don't turn out right these guys, they'll just continue to pursue their "goal" regardless of their money usage.  Things aren't getting cheaper these days and everyone should know it.  It's hard to oblivious to that fact. If this continues happen- where will all the money go?  There are better things to spend on that can be more beneficial to us... perhaps education or health for kids.  We have to keep in mind, our future lays in the hands of Generation Y.

Obama?

"Barack Hussein Obama has got to GO!"

I came across this post Published by TexasFred.  It talks about our Mr. President, Barack Obama.  I find it actually quite entertaining because it can either be taken seriously or not.  It's kind of a persuasive type of article/post.  If you take a look inside the post, you can see that it lists up to thirty-one reasons why Barack Obama must flee away.  Reading this post, you can clearly see how strongly the author "dislikes" the President.  The picture does his message justice because it shows the President burning the Constitution.  Americans would definitely take that offensively.

My two favorite quote of all from TexasFred : "Do YOU want a President that will rule by Executive Order? One that will ignore the will of We, The People and declare Martial Law for NO REASON, simply so he can suspend the rights and laws that we enjoy under the U.S. Constitution and rule by Executive Fiat?"

"Ask yourself this; do I want a President that WILL destroy America?"

If you ask yourself that, of course you'd say no.   Why on Earth would anybody want that?  It's a simple yet critical question.  That question would definitely bring an up rise amongst us Americans.  The author just points out blatantly on how Obama should just...  go away and he does it quite well.

Let's Take a Look

I found this worth-reading article about Texas and its inmates on AAS' site.  This was published not too long ago, on February 14th.  It talks about how we are so proud of ourselves cutting down criminals and putting them in the right place.  However, what leaves everyone standing in awe is the cost of keeping these guys in and alive.  The price of incarnation costs rises along with health care.  Even, our universities (University of Texas & Texas Tech) are giving out a hand to provide these inmates healthcare.  Also, the Texas prison board made a $46 million deal with the Huntsville Memorial Hospital to help inmates incarcerated in area units.  This article will definitely have a variety of people in the audience.  Each mindset will have its own thinking and its own logic to where money should be going.

Texas statistics show : "older inmates are 7 percent of the 160,000 inmate population, but they account for nearly a third of hospitalization costs, according to a recent report in The Texas Tribune..."  1/3 of hospitalization costs?!  That's crazy and only to think that is just 7% of the inmate population.

"No rational person would argue that poor lifestyle choices, illness or age should be a ticket out of prison for dangerous offenders, but neither would a rational person ignore the responsibilities the state assumes when it incarcerates someone. Prisoners have to be fed, clothed and treated when they become ill."

I agree with what this article says.  However, I do know that some people will in fact disagree with this.  They may believe that their money shouldn't be going towards care for inmates...instead,  them suffering and dying is just enough for their punishment. We have people locked up, it is our responsibility to to have them serve time.  In order for them to serve time, they need to be up and about, not dying from starvation or illnesses.  It's only how we manage our money to keep these guys in.  Justice will have to be served sooner or later.

Good/Bad Law for TX?

This is a very interesting article that I found online about Texas.  There are so many issues to this day about abortions and also many debates about it that seem to never have an end.  In this article, it says that a federal judge won’t attempt to block a law that requires women to have a sonogram before having an abortion.  However, a district judge (Sam Sparks) finds it wrong and wanted to sway the law towards a different direction because he found it unconstitutional.  I believe Sparks is right because it invades people’s privacy.  Though there are so many ways to think how it being wrong, I could also see there being ways that it could be right.  Like I said before, this topic is so controversial.  It’s definitely worth a read.  Even though Mr. Sparks tried to change it up, federal appeals court had overturned his decision and has been said that the law needs to be put in place.   However, this article doesn’t have an end to it yet because it is still said that the Center for Reproductive Rights will continue to “pursue appeals” towards sonograms prior to abortion.
