Drying For Freedom

This is my response towards James' post.

Hi James,

I couldn't have said it better. You've made your point clear and on the dot.

It's preposterous that there's even such a thing: not being allowed to dry your clothes outside. We the people and the government always talk about saving money at every point necessary. How can one come up with such a thing?

"Prohibiting line drying is a really bad thing, especially as estimates indicate that tumble dryers consume 6 percent of an average home's electricity—about the same as a refrigerator. In contrast, lighting uses around 8 percent of the average home's energy."

The little money we'd saving would eventually sum up to a big amount. Surely, many people would be surprised. It makes no complete sense. In my eyes, I see that this enforcement is way out of hand. Drying clothes outside does no harm whatsoever and it has its beneficial points.

Back then, things were different. There was a need for new technology. Things were less expensive than they are today. Just like the every day things we run into like gas and food. These things grew in price rigorously, especially gas. (I'm sure everyone has noticed.) However, though we do have the money to have a dryer, there is no NEED to use a dryer when we have our lovely mother-nature to do the job for us.

I'm sure many people like myself would love to hang their clothes outside... We just happen to be too lazy to do so, right? :)
