Controversy in $

"Texans in Congress say they’ll keep backing fighter project despite massive cost overruns"

This article caught my eyes whilst browsing on the Dallas News website.  It's about members of Congress continuing to spend money on their air crafts. Some people like myself might call it wasting instead of spending.  The republicans like to yap around about the federal government throwing money around but look at them.  When it comes to spending in their hands, they're actually the ones wasting money.  Much like hypocrites most people would say.  They talk about the government is spending too much money on its employees, so they downsize it.  They bring up about the government being poor.  Then... what do they do?  They just go on right ahead and continue to waste money, government money.  They allow themselves to talk about others wasting money like the democrats for too much of debt but do they see what they're doing?  A lot of people might have different perspectives but for me, it's clear that the word "hypocrisy" arises.

"The Pentagon conceived the F-35 as a cost-effective way to move military aircraft into the 21st century, but the F-35 Lighting II has been plagued with delays and cost overruns since its launch in 2002."

So even though things don't turn out right these guys, they'll just continue to pursue their "goal" regardless of their money usage.  Things aren't getting cheaper these days and everyone should know it.  It's hard to oblivious to that fact. If this continues happen- where will all the money go?  There are better things to spend on that can be more beneficial to us... perhaps education or health for kids.  We have to keep in mind, our future lays in the hands of Generation Y.

  2. There were several good points throughout the blog that shows how Congress were wasting money instead of being productive in the research of the F-35 lighting II aircraft; however, I’m inclined to think that the cause is worth the research but the excessive amounts of money spent today would supersede the aircraft's ultimate outcome. In other words I agree that the $1.4 trillion dollars spent will never be repaid in the delivery of supplies.
The Pentagon, the highest level of security and political era how could this level of stupidity exist? We all depend on the Defense department to provide daily security for all Americans and still there’s not one or two technicians’ that could design an aircraft to support the all 3 branches of military with the supplies needed to protect the USA.
I disagree that congress it trying to pursue their goals, I believe that Winslow Wheeler (analysis at the Center for Defense) stated it best when he said, “The Pentagon bit off more than they could chew by trying to make one jet that could do so much”. The fact that the Pentagon has no backup plan in place is really a frightening thought.
I think that the blog was good and the only thing that I would have done differently would be to list the amounts of money that was spent, list some the names of the people that were directly involved in the discussions making and give the purpose for the F-35 Lighting II aircraft as well. (To replace the America Cold War-era fighter jets that’s behind in technology).

  3. I couldn't agree with you more Linda. The spending of this jet ($1.4 trillion) is way too high for any country, let alone a country that is trillions of dollars in debt. With that being said the only conclusion I could come to as to why Congressmen in Texas want to keep this plane alive is the jobs its creating for the Dallas-Forth Worth area. With that Being said, rather than saving this super expensive toy with Texas government money trying to keep jobs, I say take the money, part ways from the damn near impossible jet and use it to create the jobs they are trying to indirectly save.

With that being said the government's argument is that it would provide a better way of safety. My thought is this; we are the most powerful country in the nation. Why do we need a jet that will cost $1.4 trillion dollars if we are already the big dogs on campus? Rather than spending money to show who has the bigger gun, I say spend it on creating more jobs to stabilize Texas' economy in the near future, or exactly what you said Linda, keeping our children in school, and keeping them healthy with health care which in turn will stabilize our future since our future starts with our children.
